New York City, December 21, 2017 —- The Nigeria Consulate in New York has launched a visa processing center to process Nigerian Visas as part of the new Acting Consul General, Hon. Tanko Abubakar Sukeiman, initiatives to ease the burden of those who are applying for Nigeria visa. Starting from January 22, 2018, applicants for visas will no longer have contact with the Consulate Office when they apply for their visas.
All applications for Nigerian visas will now be processed by a OIS, a Nigerian London based company. Those applying for visa are invited to visit the company’s website at oisservices.com for more information about visa requirements and to make appointment. Upon the completion of an online application, applicant will be given an appointment date and time. Applicant will be given a one hour window for his or her appointment after which the appointment will be cancelled. The processing of visa application at the center should not be more than 30 minutes. Visa will be available for pick-up within 48hrs from the time the application is processed at the center. Applicant will also receive an alert from the Consulate Office that his or her visa is ready for pick up at the Visa processing center. The fee for this service is $90. According to the General Manager of OIS, Mr. Abdul Momodu, this fee was set by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
It is expected that processing of Nigerian passports will soon follow. Therefore, applications for passport will still be handled at the Consulate Office until further notice. We have been advised to inform the community to apply for their new passport or renewal three months ahead of time. Passport will be available for pick-up between 2 to 4 weeks from the time the application is processed at the Consulate office. For those with emergency situations, and upon verifiable proof of the said emergency, the Consulate will try to accommodate their situations.
OIS can also assist with processing BVN and payment for passport.
As promised, OAN leaders will continue to engage the Consulate on regular basis to provide community feedback and suggest areas of customer service improvement and other developments.
