OAN / Nigeria Indie Parade Governmental Committee Welcome New Consul General to New York

New York, New York: A delegation of members of the Governmental Committee of the Organization for the Advancement of Nigerians and the Nigerian Independence Parade Committee last week met with the new Consul General of Nigeria in New York, Hon. B. B. M. Okoyen at the Nigerian Consulate to formally welcome him to New York as well as receive him to his position as the new Consul General at the Consulate General of Nigeria in New York. The Delegation/Committee also used the opportunity to introduce the Nigerian Independence Parade Celebrations Event to the Consul General as a major Nigerian event in the United States. The parade event which pulls in several thousands of Nigerians in the United States for the celebration of Nigeria’s independence in New York city is the largest attending Nigerian event in Diaspora today. The parade event receives Nigerians, guests, friends, and other celebrants from around the United States and from around the world with attendees coming in all the way from Europe and Nigeria. The event is also attended by United States Government officials including many from the host State of New York.

In attendance during the meeting at the Consulate were other staff members of the Nigerian Consulate including Consul Norman S. Wokoma (Trade & Investment), Consul (Mrs.) Kate Ihuoma Igbodike (Immigration, Culture, & Education), and Consul Taiwo Ayomoba, and Mr. Idris Lawal. The Governmental Committee delegation led by Michael Adeniyi includes Oliver Mbamara, Solomon Adelaja, Raheem Banire, Ayoola Soetan, and Sunmonu Bello-Osagie who anchored the meeting.
