ARTS EVENING (April 4th) – Clark Studio Theatre, Lincoln Centre 

“Ndebele Funeral.” The acclaimed work examines the world of modern South Africa through the aspirations and loss of three characters whose lives intersect in a Soweto shantytown. Poignant and darkly funny, Ndebele Funeral features original music from Spirits Indigenous, and gumboot dancing from the mines in Jo’burg. The work has been named a Critic’s Pick by Time Out NY and has been awarded an Overall Excellence Award for Best Play by FringeNYC.

This year’s theme, “A Continent Ascends: Emergent Perspectives from the Frontier” recognizes the need for dialog that is specific to the African context to propel the growth story of the Continent. There will be nine panels on the following topics: Energy and Power in Africa, Capital Markets, Media, Education, Private Equity, Extractives, Microfinance, Entrepreneurship and Healthcare Our panelists include: Wale Adeosun– Founder, Kuramo Capital (inaugurated into the Wall Street Hall of Fame), Elizabeth Nyamanaru – Advisor, Under Secretary UN, Gary Licht – Executive, Africa Trading at Standard Bank, Omoyele Sowore – Founder, Sahara Reporters, Koffi Annan – Principal, Annansi LLC and many more!
